(1) The bulk of their diet is made up of crustaceans and molluscs, larger fish become more piscivorous , feeding upon herring and sand eels.(2) Because of their feeding habitats, pelicans and other piscivorous birds usually don't contract avian botulism.(3) The Yarra River is a large slow-moving stream that empties into the Caribbean Sea and contains many large piscivorous predators.(4) This stream contains a diverse community of fishes, including the piscivorous cichlid fish, Petenia splendida.(5) Those effects are exacerbated in piscivorous species, because of the tendency of PCBs to biomagnify at upper trophic levels.(6) As would be assumed with juvenile or young fish, some predation could occur from piscivorous birds.(7) As they mature, their foraging patterns shift and the fish become opportunistic piscivores .(8) It is a piscivore that is cryptically silver-colored and optimized for speed and prey capture.(9) Malapterurus electricus is a voracious piscivore , hunting and stunning its prey using its paralyzing electrical organ discharge.(10) Adult beluga sturgeon are mainly piscivores , swimming at middle depths and preying mostly on pelagic fish species.(11) For now, we use a mean value for other avian piscivores , though we are completing balance trials on captive loons.
